We have been friends for as long as I can remember, two peas in a pod. When you are lonely I console you. When you are low I will take you lower. You don’t even know I am here, tagging along wherever you go. I distort your image as you look into the mirror to reflect my image of you.
I remind you how unworthy you are and that no one wants to be your friend. They only tolerate you. You just don’t fit in.
Don’t tell. Keep the secret. They won’t believe you anyway, you are such a liar. It was all your fault anyway. You wanted it, you know you did. I just gave you what you wanted. Not my fault. You said yes. You chose to stay. Do not believe for one-minute God cares about you, if He did, He would not have allowed all those things happen to you. He is powerless when it comes to you. You slipped His mind; His kindness is non-existent. Forget about compassion, mercy or grace. You are not worthy.
This is your fate.
My name is shame and I own you.
You Don’t Own Me
Shame is insidious as it creeps into your life to the point you can’t imagine life without its presence, yet you didn’t recognize its presence hovering. Whispers of partial truths, twisted lies about who you are and who you’re not. Ready to accuse and to keep you trapped in shame’s clutches. You may deny shames existence, thinking it’s your voice, your actions driving you, not knowing you’re just a puppet.
Shame works best in the dark and in secret. Shine the light of truth on shame and it will dissipate. Give voice to the truth and shame will flee. Put shame where it rightly belongs―in the arms of those who hurt you.
With every step you take and every breath you breathe you will not walk in shame. Put shame back on the person who first introduced you to shame. Shame is a liar, vicious, and destructive. Replace the lies of shame with the truth of God’s word. When Jesus died He put shame back on the enemy where it belongs.
Break Off Shame
Say it out loud!
I see you shame.
I see how you’ve destroyed my body, soul, and spirit.
I no longer partner with you.
I break every tie you to have to me.
I renounce any agreements that gave you access to me.
I take back all you’ve stolen from me.
I give back all that shame gave me.
I cast you out and sent you back in Jesus Name.
Ask Holy Spirit to fill you up and ask Jesus what He’d like to give you to replace shame.
This is powerful. Thanks for writing it so we can all shut the shame up!!
I like that…shut shame up! Powerful
Yesssss!
LOL! I thought you’d like it.
Excellent! Shame wants to be hidden, it doesn’t want you to even know you have it. Shame says your not good enough to be away from me. I’ve owned you for decades. I break all agreements and the deep roots of shame that has twisted itself around my very personality, the way I carry myself, shame has to go for who the Son makes free shall be free indeed. Thank you for making me aware of this problem. God Bless You!
You’re welcome. Powerful words Michele.
The Bible says that Jesus scorned the shame. Sounds like you’ve found a good way to do just that. <3
Absolutely Katharine!
